I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! July is National Ice Cream Month!
This fun celebration was established in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan, with the third Sunday of the month being National Ice Cream Day. He recognized that more than 90% of the U.S. population enjoys this sweet treat, and at that time, the ice cream industry produced about $3.5 billion in sales each year and provided jobs for thousands of people. Today, that annual sales number has climbed to more than $39 billion, providing roughly 188,000 jobs nationwide.
The International Ice Cream Association, a branch organization of the International Dairy Foods Association, has 60 member companies that make and circulate about 85% of the ice cream and dessert products eaten across the United States. The most popular flavor? Vanilla!
Other than those with food allergies, there are few who don’t love ice cream. It’s seriously delicious, and this nationally recognized month and day provide even more of a reason to celebrate it. But why spend time and energy promoting it if its popularity speaks for itself? Here’s the reason: New customers may try your company’s products or services throughout the month because of the occasion, and then the quality of the product or service will motivate them to come back after July is over. Doing so establishes a relationship of loyalty, which is great news for your business.
